Founder of the Charity Cases, Steve began cycling in 2010 as a way to enjoy low-impact exercise. Cycling became a passion, and with the support of friends, he began entering longer structured rides like BRAN (Bike Ride Across Nebraska) and TDN (Tour de Nebraska) It was not uncommon for Steve to log 3,000 miles a year on his hybrid bike.

In May of 2017, Steve lost his mother from Emphysema due to cigarette smoking. His father passed a few years earlier due to the same diagnosis and circumstance. Ironically, his wife's parents also died years earlier from various cigarette-related conditions.

"I needed to take all this personal loss and do something positive", Steve said, and the Charity Cases Cycling Team was born. "The concept was for riders to come together, raise money and awareness for causes near and dear to their hearts".

As the owner of a very small video production company, Steve decided to create a VLOG for every organized ride the Charity Cases participated in. "I'm passionate about cycling and video. What if we put both together and told powerful stories that can make a difference"?
