The Charity Cases Cycling Team began with the purpose of bringing cyclists together to raise funds and awareness for charitable causes that each individual on the team felt passionate about. For me, it was the American Lung Association. For Rob Holdford, it is the Alzheimers Association, and for Bill Burnette, it is the Wounded Warrior Project. After the hurricanes hit Texas, Florida, and Puerto Rico, our team decided to help the American Red Cross hurricane relief effort. We signed up for the Wheel A Mena; “Ride to the Top” in Mena, Arkansas. A 70-mile ride that included about 4,000 feet of total climb into the Kerr Nature Center and Queen Wilhelmina State Park. Carrying an additional 20 pounds of camera equipment up the mountain was a challenge, but well worth it.
